چکیده

Based on a set of criteria and a measuring lattice, we introduce relational measures as generalizations of fuzzy measures. The latter have recently made their way from the interval [0, 1] ⊆ IR to the ordinal or even to the qualitative level. We proceed further and introduce relational measures and relational integration. First ideas of this kind, but for the real-valued linear orderings stem from Choquet (1950s) and Sugeno (1970s). We generalize to not necessarily linear orders and handle it algebraically and in a point-free manner. We thus open this area of research for treatment with theorem provers which would be extremely difficult for the classical presentation of Choquet and Sugeno integrals. Our specification of the relational integral is operational. It can immediately be translated into the programming language of RelView and, hence, the tool can be used for solving practical problems.

Algebraic Optimization of Relational Preference Queries

The design and implementation of advanced personalized database applications requires a preference-driven approach. Representing preferences as strict partial orders is a good choice in most practical cases. Therefore the efficient integration of preference querying into standard database technology is an important issue. We present a novel approach to relational preference query optimization b...

Solving a non-convex non-linear optimization problem constrained by fuzzy relational equations and Sugeno-Weber family of t-norms

Sugeno-Weber family of t-norms and t-conorms is one of the most applied one in various fuzzy modelling problems. This family of t-norms and t-conorms was suggested by Weber for modeling intersection and union of fuzzy sets. Also, the t-conorms were suggested as addition rules by Sugeno for so-called  $lambda$–fuzzy measures. In this paper, we study a nonlinear optimization problem where the fea...

Turn-Taking, Preference, and Face in Criticism Responses

Vivas have multiple functions in academia, but their main goal is completing thesis evaluation. At the heart of this evaluation is a series of criticisms and their responsive turns by which participants talk vivas as institution into being (Heritage, 1997). Turn-taking is one of the many ways vivas are talked into being. This study drew upon conversation analysis to look into the turn allocatio...

Fuzzy-Relational Classification: Combining Pairwise Decomposition Techniques with Fuzzy Preference Modeling

This paper introduces a new approach to classification which combines pairwise decomposition techniques from machine learning with ideas and tools from fuzzy preference modeling. The approach, called fuzzy relational classification, effectively reduces the problem of classification to a problem of decision making based on a fuzzy preference relation. It will be shown that, by decomposing such a...
